What if, we want to trick the OS and place an EOF character in a file and write some data after the EOF so that an application like notepad.exe is not able to read after our EOF character. I have read answers to the question related to this topic and have come to know that nowdays OS generally don't see for an EOF character rather check the length of file to get the correct idea of knowing.
I have a parent and a child prozess and want to write an EOF from the parent to the child via a pipe. how does this work? here is my attampt: ---parent code---.
The above code fragment processes a file as long as it EOF is not reached. It uses eof() function with the stream object to check for the file's end. To detect end of file, without using EOF(), you may check whether the stream object has become NULL or not. For example. In computing, end-of-file (commonly abbreviated EOF) is a condition in a computer operating system where no more data can be read from a data source. The data source is usually called a file or stream. This flag is set by all standard input operations when the End-of-File is reached in the sequence associated with the stream. Note that the value returned by this function depends on the last operation performed on the stream (and not on the next). Operations that attempt to read at the End-of-File fail, and thus both the eofbit and the failbit end up set. This function can be used to check.
EOF is the name of a combination of chemotherapy drugs. The BOF property returns True (-1) if the current record position is before the first record in the Recordset, otherwise it returns False (0). The EOF property returns True (-1) if the current record position is after the last record in the Recordset, otherwise it returns False (0). Note: The BOF and EOF properties are set to True if you open an empty Recordset.Read More
If an end-of-file (Control-D) is received before the input list is satisfied, input stops, and unsatisfied items of the input list remain unchanged. If u specifies an external unit that is not connected to a file, an implicit OPEN operation is performed equivalent to opening the file with the options in the following example.Read More
Write EOF Record (option 5.5) Use this option to write a logical EOF marker into a sequential disk file. File Manager retrieves the record at the specified location and rewrites it as an end-of-file indicator. File Manager writes a special record with a data length of zero (null record). All data on the track past this EOF record is lost. File Manager prints a log of the retrieved record.Read More

End of file is indicated by -1. This is used for both InputStreams and Readers, at least for the read() methods. BufferedReader's readLine() returns a String which may indicate EOF with a null, but most of the other read methods return an int which may be -1 to indicate EOF.Read More
Eof was a swineherd who claimed to have seen a vision of the Virgin Mary at Evesham in England, about 701. Eof related this vision to Egwin, Bishop of Worcester, who founded the great Evesham Abbey on the site of the apparation. Evesham means Eof's ham. Some people think Eof may have been a shepherd. The standard Lives, and Saint Egwin and his Abbey of Evesham say Eof was a swineherd. The.Read More
Because you always write data to sequential files at the end of the file, the file marker is always at the end of the file, and EOF will therefore always return True when testing files opened with their modes set equal to either Input or Append.Read More
